About Alexa
More than marketing — this is personal.
Hi, I’m Alexa — writer, marketer, and maker of meaningful moments.
I’ve spent the last decade helping people and brands show up in ways that feel aligned, human, and impactful. Through storytelling, strategy, and a deep belief in the power of connection, I help good ideas grow — online and IRL.
But the truth is, this work started long before I had a title for it.

The journeys that shape my work
Because I didn’t just learn this — I lived it.
The Writer
I always knew I’d be a writer.
I was the kid with a Moleskine notebook tucked under my arm, always scribbling. In college, I majored in English and studied Shakespeare at Oxford University, but my writing stretched far beyond the classics. I covered arts, culture, and business for several publications, and specialized in nonfiction writing. I also minored in Information Technology — because I wanted to understand how the world worked, not just how it read.
Since then, I’ve written for magazines, SaaS companies, web design schools, community publications, and founders who had a message but needed help finding the words. Writing is still my first love — and the foundation for everything I do.
Not everyone reads these days, but *buyers* read. And when the words are right, they move people to act.
The Community Builder
I’ve been gathering people for as long as I can remember.
Whether it was organizing class projects, hosting talent shows, or playing restaurant in the front yard (I was always the manager), bringing people together has always felt natural. In high school, I co-founded Lend a Hand, a student-led initiative that supported unhoused communities in Los Angeles. And in college, I launched the UMass Amherst chapter of Her Campus, a nationally recognized media brand for college women. I didn’t just write for the platform — I led meetings, hosted events, and even interned at their headquarters in Boston.
Years later, when I was unexpectedly laid off from what I thought was my dream job, I asked myself: When was the last time I felt truly fulfilled by my work?
The answer was Her Campus. And in many ways, Gather Gulf Coast is a re-creation of that experience — rooted in connection, creativity, and the joy of making things happen with (and for) other people.
The Marketer
Marketing wasn’t my plan — but it turned out to be my path.
I dreamed of working in magazines after college. The goal was to move to New York, land a job at Condé Nast, and live out my Devil Wears Prada fantasy. But life had other plans. Personal circumstances kept me in Boston, and practical ones (like not wanting to earn pennies in a shoebox apartment) led me to take a job at a data-driven ad tech company — one founded by literal rocket scientists.
At 20 years old, I was the youngest person at the company. That year, I won the company-wide innovation award. And from there, I was hooked.
I went on to work in global sales and marketing, eventually joining a Finland-based tech company and moving into agency life — advertising, social media, communications, web design. Through it all, I learned how to blend message with meaning, brand with soul, and storytelling with strategy.

Why Ask Alexa Renee?
This brand is a reflection of all the things I’ve grown into:
A human, not a robot.

A strategist with heart.
A writer with range.
A community builder who believes business can feel good.
Ask Alexa Renee exists because good ideas deserve support.
Not just a strategy. Not just a checklist. But real, thoughtful guidance that meets you where you are — and helps you grow from there.
The Story So Far
Words were my first love. Community was my second. Marketing tied it all together.
I’ve been a storyteller since childhood — the kind who kept journals, wrote short plays, and made flyers for imaginary businesses. That same curiosity and creative instinct led me to a career that’s taken me from magazine publishing and big tech to small business consulting and community-building on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Over the years, I’ve worked as a writer, editor, content strategist, marketer, brand consultant, and event producer. And no matter the title, my role has always been the same:
To help people share what they care about in a way that resonates.
The Throughlines
Across all the industries I’ve worked in, there are a few things that never change:
I ask the right questions — and listen closely to the answers.
I blend strategy with spirit.
I bring big-agency thinking to small businesses, creatives, and community organizations that deserve it.
I build with intention — never just to check a box.
I care deeply about the people behind the work.
I’ve supported tech startups, medical spas, local shops, nonprofit publications, education companies, corporate leaders, and hundreds of small business owners — but always with the same values in mind: clarity, creativity, and connection.
01
I'm a mom.
It shapes how I think about time, energy, and what matters most — in work and in life.
02
I use intuition like a strategy tool.
I trust my gut — and it’s often what helps me ask the question others haven’t.
03
I care deeply about how things feel.
Words, events, brands — they all have energy. I help make sure yours feels aligned.
04
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all marketing.
I’ll never hand you a cookie-cutter playbook. Your business deserves better.
